Buying a Suit in Colombia
In Colombia, for me, the best brand in terms of price and quality is Carlos Nieto.
There are several Colombian brands that offer good quality and affordable clothing, but I feel that when it comes to buying a suit with a jacket and tie, you must go for something of high quality. In Colombia, for me, the best brand in terms of price and quality is Carlos Nieto.
I only have a couple of suits, and yesterday I bought another one. The suit and tie together cost me 2,600,000 Colombian pesos (approximately 600 dollars). I don't know how much a suit might cost in the USA or Europe. My friend from Luxembourg, who knows a lot about style, clothing, and luxury, told me that Hugo Boss suits from a factory in Germany were excellent and affordable. He didn't mention any prices though, haha.
What I am saying is that, in my opinion, Carlos Nieto is an excellent brand and the suits are of high quality. I'm not an expert, but you can see the photos. At least in Colombia, they are among the best. There's also Arturo Calle, but I feel their quality is lower. It's cheaper, but it doesn't look or feel good.
On the other hand, Carlos Nieto is really good. As I mentioned, I'm not an expert, but I can feel the quality in the fabrics. The staff attends to you very well and customizes all the suits to your measurements. For example, in the photos, I tried on those suits, but they took my measurements and will have the suit ready in seven days to fit perfectly. The employees know a lot about suits, ties, pleats, textures, shoes, etc.
I didn't buy the shoes in the picture; I'm still deciding, but I tried them on with the suit to see how the complete outfit would look with the shoes, haha. I went there in sweats that day.
So, I recommend buying suits and elegant clothing at Carlos Nieto. In Colombia, men tend to dress like reggaeton artists (except in Bogotá). In Bogotá, people are more aristocratic than in the rest of the country, but take a look. My advice is to go to the physical stores and not buy anything online because when you go to the store, the salespeople take your measurements, give you advice, and attend to you very well.
It seems that Carlos Nieto imports the fabrics and raw materials from Europe. The suit I bought is apparently from Portugal, but the craftsmanship is Colombian. The brand is very good, but as I said, I'm not an expert. In my opinion, the quality and price are unbeatable: 500 dollars for an American is nothing, and honestly, the suits look like they cost much more than that.
