First time going to a strip club in Bogota

what to expect, how it is and my insights...

Here is my take away and story from the one time I went to a strip club in Bogota, Colombia.

Picture this, I’m in university and is my friend’s birthday, we wanted to have a little surprise to him and not the usual birthday celebration of going out for a beer. We all wanted to do something different.

As males we are basic, we were bored and wanted to go out, the best we can think is going to see some naked girls in “El Santa Fe”, the street where all the strip clubs are and prostitution is allowed. But be careful, this zone is not a good zone to go alone or to be flashy, the best way to describe it is this: is a neighbourhood that you will avoid going, and you only go to see some girls dance. My buddy didn’t know we were going, we talked to a taxi driver to take us there. Here is my advice, take a taxi NOT an uber. Taxi drivers will go there without a problem but Uber drivers won’t, remember is a sketchy zone and taxi drivers know how everything works there. Leave the cab and go to the strip club you are planning to go, is not worth to be fooling around there without a reason.

The surprise was evident in my friends eyes, he didn’t expect to be there, he’s happy. Now we go in and some guards just do the routine check up, keep in mind you feel secure inside I guess everything needs to be like that so costumers feel confidence and can spend their money in peace.

We went during the weekday and around 5pm so it wasn’t crowded, but you still can see lots of dancers all around. First thing they ask you is to get a table and buy some drinks, if you buy more, the more attention you get from the girls (as expected). But you can go and just enjoy the striptease. Needless to say, you find all kind of women there, you won’t be bored or disappointed and as expected, they come to talk to you and convince you to get a lap dance with her, its fun to see how they flirt with you and tease you. Be bold and assertive, if you don’t want just say no, if you want say how much and for how long the dance.

Because it was my friends birthday we decided to pay him a lapdance, we asked one of the male workers there about how to get it and prices. I found really funny his response “obviously, what girl you want, how you like them? blonde, short, brunette… I will found one for you”.

We payed for a dance for him, obviously enjoying himself and still in owe, it was the first time going to a strip club for all of us. after the dance a couple of my friends also decided to get one. But in general, all time we were having some beers and want chin the runway of beautiful dancers all around, making jokes about how they trying to get us to spend more money and “flirting”with us, keep in mind we were students, so we didn’t have tons of money to throw away.

Remember what I told you, they want you to spend more money, at the end is the job of girls working there. Drinks and alcohol are more expensive in those sites than usual, so if you decide to go keep in mind that.

By the time you want to leave, you pay your tab and get out of the place. You can get a taxi to pick you up and take you to your place, there’s a Transmilenio station close (Calle 22), but remember, its a zone know to be dangerous and have lots of robbery, so better avoid danger when you can.

Now, some keys and insights I notice and also from some friends that are more “habitual clients”. Enjoy your time, have some drinks but NEVER get drunk to the point of being wasted, avoid being a center of problems. Security people want EVERYONE to enjoy their time and they will kick you out if you disturb people.

Also, keep in mind the kind of people that goes there. Is not the same environment as going to a night club in the 85 or 93. In El Santa Fe you will find a mix of everyone, high class people, students and people that are involved in sketchy business, and you don’t want to make any trouble with people that are prone to violence. Places full of women, alcohol and sometimes drugs attract lots of money, theses places have a ton of security and you’ll be ok as long as you don’t make a fool out of yourself. Remember, your propose is to have fun.

As I understand, because the people running the strip clubs want to people always come back and enjoy their time, they try their best to avoid robbery inside. But still, remember where you are and surrounded by who, always keep your things with you and ALWAYS keep an eye on your drinks. Robbery using scopolamine still happens, but you can avoid it easily by being smart, keep your drink with you, don’t be naive when hot girls try to flirt with you and always be aware of your surroundings.
