How much budget do you need to live in Santa Marta?

Santa Marta right now is expensive due to inflation.

But if you earn in dollars, there is probably no better place to live.

Here I give you some information

Renting a one-bedroom apartment in the city center: between 800,000 and 1,200,000 COP per month (280 dollars).

There are luxurious apartments in the El Prado neighborhood with more than 2-3 rooms and they cost more or less 4,500,000 COP, that is, 900 dollars more or less.

Food in a cheap restaurant: between 10,000 and 20,000 COP per dish (3-4 dollars).

Meal in a mid-range restaurant: between 25,000 and 40,000 COP 4-7 (dollars) per plate.

A liter of milk: around 2,500 COP. (less than 1 dollar)

A dozen eggs: around 7,000 COP. (1.5 dollars)

A kilo of chicken: around 10,000 COP. (2 dollars)

A 1.5-liter bottle of water: around 2,000 COP. (less than a dollar)

A taxi ride within the city: between 8,000 and 15,000 COP (2-4 dollars)

The most expensive in Santa Marta are public services. Especially the light. The electricity bill costs more or less (60-70 dollars)

Actually the cost of living is cheap if you earn in dollars but for us who earn in pesos it is difficult to live in Santa Marta.

Keep this in mind when you visit this great city.

The truth is that I am from there and it seems to me to be one of the best cities in Colombia.

On average, if you earn more than 2,000 dollars a month, you live like a king in the city.

With 1,000 a month you live well but with just enough.

At parties you can spend 100 dollars with food and drink, motel and taxis

Everything is really cheap.

Something anecdotal...

Once some Italians stayed at my mom's airbnb and told my mom that the prostitutes in Santa Marta weren't pretty.

Haha they already had enough confidence in him but hey maybe it's true.

In general. I don't support prostitution so you better not do that.

You with money do not need that.
