Today, I was able to find out about costs, crime, and rent in Medellín to give you an idea. So, podrás leer de eso más abajo… primero un contexto.
Now that I have the possibility of earning income remotely, I think it’s time to leave Bogotá, and I’m considering living in Medellín. I’ve lived here practically for work, although honestly, living remotely in Bogotá is like paradise to me. I've said it many times: everyone complains about Bogotá. Colombians hate Bogotá. They say the weather is bad and that it rains too much, but the truth is it hasn’t rained in Bogotá for a long time, and it hasn’t been cold either.
Medellín is wonderful. I like the culture of money there, their "echar pa’ lante" (go-getter) attitude, and the natural energy of the people. I know I have many people there with whom I could do business.
The thing is, I don’t want to move now because I don’t know what will happen with the country, and for me, living somewhere else isn’t that important. For now, I feel safe in Bogotá, and I’m not sure how my life would improve in Medellín.
I feel that the change wouldn’t be that noticeable in terms of my lifestyle. The weather is wonderful, and the people too, but I’m from the coast of Colombia, so I have great energy myself. So, we’ll see. For partying, it’s not like I go out every weekend; for business, events, and concerts, Bogotá offers more festivals than Medellín.
Honestly, the only reason I would move to Medellín is because of its nature, to visit rivers or popular “charcos” (natural pools); I feel like I would enjoy that, and the weather is very nice. In Santa Marta, it’s extremely hot right now, and I prefer a temperate or cooler climate these days.
There is insecurity in Bogotá and throughout the country, naturally, because the president who likes transvestites is an absolute disaster. He constantly makes apologies for crime with the victimization discourse that the left always has. They say that there are so many criminals in Colombia because they don’t have the opportunity to study, which is nonsense, knowing that studying is free jajaja ( mostly youtube).
In fact, a dumb senator, Gustavo Bolívar, said that if young people learned to speak English, they wouldn’t have time to commit crimes hahaha as if they steal because they don’t speak English.
