Well, today I'm going to talk about Cali. Many people write to me asking why I don't talk about Cali. I hadn't written anything about Cali because I feel that my audience is foreign, and for a foreigner, Cali could be dangerous. Let's say I try not to put people at risk considering I have many followers. However, in 2019, Cali seemed to me one of the best cities to live in.
This will be the guide you need to know before living in Cali: I cover everything from relationships, machismo, dance, neighborhoods, food, to culture, dangers.
I'm from Santa Marta and felt that Cali was like being with my own people: joyful coastals. Smiling people and a cool energy. I handle the hot climate well, so I practically adapted very well to their culture. At that time, I used to visit my girlfriend all the time because she was involved in cultural events with her grandmother about poetry.
So, I feel it's worth talking about Cali, which of course is dangerous like all cities in Colombia, but as I always say, danger is relative. A gringo who hangs out in the best areas doesn't live the danger like a Colombian does. For me, Cali, when I was earning 500 dollars a month or less, was dangerous because obviously, I was exposed to walking on the streets and taking buses. But I feel that, thinking about it, gringos or foreigners shouldn't have problems living in Cali if that's their preference.
