There is a myth in Colombia that says you shouldn't climb Monserrate with your girlfriend because if you do, you won't get married. In fact, it's likely that the relationship will end a few days after climbing the Monserrate hill in Bogotá. However, if you manage to climb the hill together and stay together, it's because you are destined to be together forever.
I must say that I climbed it with my girlfriend when we were very young, and I didn't know about that "curse." And indeed, we broke up, hahaha.
But I got back together with that same girlfriend, and now I live with her, so it seems we are destined to be together for life, but who knows.
Climbing Monserrate is something you should do to improve your cardio. I like that Sunday plan in Bogotá. People climb with their dogs, their families, you see beautiful women, there's music, there's a religious mass, and there are people who climb barefoot or on their knees as an offering to God.
The climb is tough for those who don't do cardio. Generally, men who are obsessed with muscles lack endurance, and you need both. Many people find the climb hard because of the altitude too. Bogotá is at 2,300 meters above sea level, and I think this hill reaches 2,700 meters or more.
It's a tourist plan. People usually take the cable car just to see the place, but in my opinion, it's better to climb it on foot. Use it as exercise. You're surrounded by trees, the weather is cold, you see the whole city of Bogotá. It's the best way to exercise.
Something great about Colombian culture is that people eat fruit everywhere. There are always fruit stands on the street, with fresh fruit. They also sell bocadillo with cheese, which is typical of Colombia, and empanadas.
Of course, I ate everything, haha
I also noticed that it's quite safe. There are police officers, though they are women, hahaha. There shouldn't be female police officers because I actually feel insecure. I took a photo of the policewomen. They should be dancing reggaeton instead of "ensuring security" on the climb up the hill. Hahaha.
Afterward, there's a good place for breakfast near the hill. But I tell you, it's really good- COLO. I even took some photos. In fact, every time I climb the Monserrate hill, I plan to have breakfast there.
This plan is ideal for Sundays. These things make me love Bogotá. Everyone complains about Bogotá, but I enjoy it immensely.
