I believe there's a growing regional issue between foreigners and Medellin. I've criticized the behaviors of Americans, and Americans have insulted me. I've also criticized the behaviors of Colombians, and Colombians have insulted me. People think I'm complaining, but I'm not. I'm simply showing the reality of what's happening.
People think that being Colombian, I won't speak the truth about Colombians and my country. On the contrary, I am a lover of the truth, and that's why I have this anonymous account; otherwise, what's the point? More than being Colombian, I'm intelligent and realistic. You can't improve the country without speaking the truth. But people get very offended.
I've noticed that when I speak in English, people assume I'm American and insult me. They say, "Gringo, go home," haha.
It's funny because there's no other account that tells the truth about Colombia like I do. Colombians are very patriotic about some things and not so much about others. They want to make money but hate foreigners making money. Envy consumes them. That's the biggest risk I see for Americans in Colombia. They'll hate you for your money.
I've seen them criticize the fact that an American can have a comfortable lifestyle in Colombia, as if that affects them in any way. If an American has money, it doesn't take money away from Colombians.
The problem is when they exploit prostitutes and buy drugs because that market, in general, is dirty and illegal, and that money doesn't contribute to Colombian society. It generates violence for the country.
But if an American gets dental treatments in Colombia, pays for doctors for their children, buys apartments, it doesn't affect us, but as always, Colombians are very envious.
They take anything a foreigner does and magnify it to make it look bad. I've received attacks from Colombians for saying that women with leg tattoos tend to be thieves and drug foreigners. They insult me as if I were American, haha, and the worst part is that what I say is true.
Colombians expect me to defend the fact that they drug Americans. I won't do it, and I'll do everything possible to prevent foreigners from experiencing that. I have principles. Money doesn't move me. I have an American audience, and even so, I tell them the truth that they're looking for prostitutes in Colombia. Because it's the truth.
Just as I help foreigners avoid being drugged, I also help Colombians earn income with foreigners. Just as I criticize Americans who come to Medellin exclusively to seek prostitutes and drugs, I also criticize Colombians who don't work, scam foreigners, vote for Petro, and envy people with money.
What I am is an honest person, and my audience is generally foreign because I know that if we combine their money and business skills with Colombia's talent and willingness to work, we can build a great country. That's why I started BowTiedColombia.
That's why I have many projects in mind, but I need to earn more money to achieve them, and I know I will.
For now, my task is to help people who come to this country and fall in love with it.
If you need me to be your guide via WhatsApp for anything you need in Colombia for a month, I'm the right person. Whether it's restaurants, bars, nightclubs, or selecting profiles on Tinder that could be dangerous, I'm the one. Do it.
