I’m in Santa Marta visiting my parents, and it’s clear how much your surroundings influence your behavior. Life here is definitely calmer than in Bogotá, which can be counterproductive if you’re trying to make money or do business.
Life moves slower here. Everything happens at a slower pace. Just yesterday, I finally made it back to the gym, and I saw some stunning women.
One of them was a tall, strikingly beautiful woman—almost my height—with huge legs, like a football player. But the most interesting thing was what she was saying.
She’s a woman from a poor neighborhood in Santa Marta. I don’t want to go into too many details, but guess how she makes her living? She got pregnant by a Dutch guy, separated immediately after, and now lives off the money he sends for their child.
What’s shocking is how shamelessly she talked about it, saying she’ll have an income until her child turns 18. I mean, it’s incredible to me—how someone would intentionally get pregnant as a business plan to live off their child.
It made me realize that for some women, there’s no mercy when it comes to making money or accessing it.
